Your daily practice

A few minutes a day on Today

Weight loss that lasts is built from small, repeated choices. Rooted gives you one calm place to make them, every day.

  • Your identity statement, front and centre
  • A daily affirmation to say three times
  • Your tiny habits, ticked off as you go
  • A whole-self check-in: energy, mood, sleep and calm
  • One future-self action and today’s win
  • A journal prompt that changes every day

Example journal prompt

“When did you feel most like the person you are becoming today?”

A new prompt appears every day, or tap for another. Write as much or as little as you like. Every entry is saved and searchable in your Journal.

Seven tools

Help for the moments that usually derail you

Each of Rooted’s seven mindset habits has its own tool, ready the moment you need it: mid-craving, after a rough day, or when motivation dips.

Habit 1

Pause the urge

A 10-minute timer with guided breathing. Check what you are really feeling (hungry, angry, lonely, tired, bored or stressed), note the trigger, and decide once the wave has passed.

Habit 2

Quiet the critic

Write down the harsh or all-or-nothing thought, then answer it the way you would talk to a good friend. Your reframes are saved so you can see the pattern change.

Habit 3

Setback reset

Turn a slip into information in three lines: what happened, what you learned, and one small step within 24 hours. One slip is a moment, not a pattern.

Habit 4

Reconnect with why

Write your reasons beyond the scale, your vision a year from now, an identity statement, and a letter from your future self to read when motivation dips.

Habit 5

Tiny habits

Pick a few habits so small they are hard to skip, each with an if-then plan (“After lunch, I walk around the block”). Tick them off daily and watch the week fill in.

Habit 6

Whole-self check-in

Rate energy, mood, sleep and calm from 1 to 5. Rooted flags short-sleep days, when cravings tend to run higher, so you can plan ahead.

Habit 7

Act as your future self

Each day, name one thing the future you would do today, and record a win or something you are grateful for.

Always one tap away

“I have a craving”

Today has quick buttons for the three hardest moments: a craving, a loud inner critic, and a slip-up.

AI coach

A coach who knows your why

Talk through a craving, a slip or tomorrow’s plan any time. The coach reads your goals, habits and last seven days, so its advice fits your life.

I slipped up and ate a whole pizza. I feel like a failure.

One pizza doesn’t erase the person you’re becoming. It was a hard evening, not a verdict on you. What was going on earlier today? Open: Setback reset

Example conversation

Personal, short and kind

Replies use your own words and suggest one small next step at a time. When a tool would help, the coach links straight to it.

Careful by design

No shaming, no diet or medication advice. It recognises signs of disordered eating and crisis and points to real help, including 988 in the US and Canada.

Choose from several AI models. The coach is an AI and can make mistakes; it supports, but doesn’t replace, professional care.

Reflect and grow

See how far you’ve come

Journal

Daily prompts and a searchable history of everything you write: journal entries, wins, reframes, resets and craving notes.

Affirmations

Seven starter affirmations, one for each habit. Edit them, write your own, and practise one each day.

Progress

Days you showed up, your streak, urges paused, habit consistency over 14 days, and a mood and energy chart.

Optional weigh-ins

Off by default. Turn on a weekly weigh-in and activity log only if numbers help you, in pounds or kilograms.

How it works

Start in three steps

  1. 1

    Create your account

Sign up in a minute. Your entries are private to you.

  2. 2

    Write your why

Add your reasons, an identity statement and a few tiny habits with if-then plans. Starters are ready if you want them.

  3. 3

    Show up daily

Spend a few minutes on Today, and open a tool or the coach whenever a hard moment hits.

Grounded in habit research

Built on ideas that are well studied

Rooted’s tools put widely researched behaviour-change ideas into everyday practice.

  • Cravings rise and fall like a wave, usually within 10 to 20 minutes, so pausing works.
  • If-then plans (“After X, I will Y”) make new habits far more likely to happen.
  • Missing a single day makes no real difference to how a habit forms.
  • Short sleep tends to bring stronger cravings the next day.
  • Talking to yourself with kindness beats all-or-nothing thinking after a slip.
  • Feeling connected to your future self is linked to healthier choices today.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Rooted a diet?+

No. Rooted has no meal plans, calorie targets or food rules. It focuses on the mindset side of weight loss: handling cravings, quieting self-criticism, recovering from slips and building small habits that last. Use it alongside whatever eating approach you and your healthcare professional choose.

How does the AI coach work?+

You chat with it like a text conversation. It can see your why, your habits and your last seven days of entries, so its suggestions are about your life, not generic tips. It keeps replies short, suggests one small next step, and can open the right tool for you. You can choose which AI model powers it.

Is the AI coach safe to talk to about hard things?+

The coach is told never to shame you and not to give medical, diet, calorie or medication advice. If you describe signs of an eating disorder it will not give weight-loss help and will encourage you to talk to a doctor or a helpline, and if you mention self-harm it points you to 988 (US and Canada) or local emergency services. It is an AI and can get things wrong, so it does not replace professional care.

Do I have to weigh myself?+

No. Weigh-ins are off by default. If numbers help rather than stress you, you can turn on an optional weekly weigh-in and simple activity log in Progress, in pounds or kilograms.

What happens if I miss a day?+

Nothing is lost. Research on habit formation found that missing a single day made no real difference to how habits stick. Rooted reminds you of that and helps you take one small step to get back on track.

Who can see my entries?+

Your entries are private to your account. When you use the AI coach, your message and a summary of your recent entries are sent to the AI model you choose so it can reply.

Can I use Rooted on my phone?+

Yes. Rooted works in any modern browser on phone, tablet or computer, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app.

Your next small step starts today.

Build the mindset that makes weight loss last, one tiny habit at a time.
